Nemanja Matic: Manchester United midfielder signs new three-year contract

Serbia international forced way back into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans in early part of 2020 during absence of injured duo Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay
Nemanja Matic has started each of Manchester United's last three league games
Nemanja Matic has agreed a new three-year deal at Manchester United, which keeps the midfielder at the club until 2023.
The Serbian's Old Trafford career looked to be nearing its end in January with the midfielder open to leaving during the winter window but he forced his way back into manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans after a string of impressive performances in the early part of 2020 during the absence of the injured Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay.
In March, United triggered a one-year option in Matic's previous contract and began discussions on an improved deal.
"I am very happy that I will continue to be part of this great club," 31-year-old Matic told the club's website.
"As a player, I still have a lot more to give and achieve in my career and to do that with Manchester United will be a huge honour.
Matic has been in great form for United, who are aiming to secure a top-four finish this season
"This is a really exciting team to be part of, we have a good balance of youth and experience within the squad and there is great comradery amongst the group.
"This is a key part of the season and we are playing well. We will continue to fight to finish the season on a high and make our amazing supporters proud."
Solskjaer added: "I am delighted that Nemanja has signed a new contract, I know his experience, professionalism and leadership will be invaluable to this young talented group.
"We have great strength in midfield and Nemanja's attributes are a key part of that. Nemanja has been here for three seasons now and really understands the values of playing for Manchester United.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is delighted to have secured Matic to a new long-term contract
"He remains hugely ambitious and determined which will be vital as we look to achieve our aims over the coming years."
Matic has been a key figure in United's impressive form since the Premier League's restart, coming off the bench against Tottenham before starting in each of their last three league victories.
He joined United from Chelsea in 2017 following three-and-a-half years at Stamford Bridge. Matic has since featured 114 times for United, scoring four goals.
Nemanja Matic suffered an injury in October and was sidelined for two months
Matic: I seized my chance
Nemanja Matic looked like he could be on his way out of Manchester United earlier this year, with the 31-year-old open to leaving during the January transfer window but he forced his way back into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans after a string of impressive performances in the early part of 2020 during the absence of the injured Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay.
During an exclusive interview with Sky Sports last week, Matic said he knew he would have to remain patient and wait for his chance to play so he could earn Solskjaer's trust.
"I always try to be professional and give my best when I am on the pitch, it doesn't matter if it is training or a game," he told Sky Sports.
"I've played football for a long time already and this situation is normal, sometimes you don't play and the coach doesn't see you as a first option. You can accept it or not but you have to be professional.
"You have to work hard, wait for your chance and use it. This is exactly what I did.
"Now the situation is different, the coach trusts me more. I'm a soldier and I wait for the instructions from my coaching team.
"To be honest, when you don't play of course you think about everything but in my head I always try to be positive. I always believe in my quality and I know if work hard my time is going to come again."

Kai Havertz to Chelsea: Blues given green light to complete transfer as they come up with plan

The Germany international is a man in demand ahead of the next transfer window and he is being heavily linked with moves to Chelsea and Manchester United

Germany international Kai Havertz is attracting plenty of interest ahead of the summer transfer window opening for business.

The 21-year-old attacking-midfielder, who can also operate as a striker, is being linked with a whole host of big names clubs across Europe, including the likes of Chelsea, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

The talented midfielder has excelled in the Bundesliga for Bayer Leverkusen this seaon, not only showing his skill and versatility, but also his leadership qualities as he has worn the captain's armband on a whole host of different occasions, showing great signs of maturity for someone at such a young age.

Chelsea, as already proven with the additions of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, are desperate to bolster their squad ahead of the 2020/21 Premier League season and Havertz is understood to be another name right at the very top of head coach Frank Lampard's wish list.

But a deal for the Germany star is not expected to come cheap, with Leverkusen reportedly looking at a fee of somewhere between £70million-£90million.

But the Blues are desperate to lure him to Stamford Bridge and are looking at a whole host of methods to possibly pull off a deal.

Chelsea will complete the signing of PSG striker, Edinson Cavani on Friday

Chelsea will complete their first signing of the January transfer window on Friday with Edinson Cavani moving to West London on a short term deal. Since the transfer ban was halved, Chelsea have been seeking additions to their young squad to help them in their quest for a top four finish.
With Olivier Giroud set for a move out of Chelsea, Frank Lampard have identified the 32 year old Uraguayan as a stop gap for the goal scoring issues experienced by the blues this season.
Chelsea have created the 3rd most goal scoring chances this season but are languishing in 4th positon, 6 points behind 3rd placed Leicester and 5 points ahead of 5th place Manchester United.
The Cavani deal is close to completion with Frank Lampard revealing his love for the striker in his press conference before the Arsenal game: "He is a great player. I am not sure what the situation is though. He has experience, but many players are."
More substance was added to Cavani's move to England as PSG director, Leonardo revealed after the game on Sunday that the 32 year old have handed in a transfer request:
"We've always said the same thing. We were hoping he would stay with the club, but today he asked to leave. We're studying the situation
With Chelsea lacking firepower up front, Cavani would be a great addition and would welcome the opportunity to test himself at the world's most competitive league.

Chelsea to sign Hakim Ziyech

With the Blues going on an unfavorable streak, and having lost 8 league matches this season already, they have identified Hakim Ziyech as the main man to solve their goal scoring problems having failed to score against Southampton, Bournemouth, and Newcastle.
Ziyech, a Moroccan international, is understood to be satisfied with his stay in Ajax but Chelsea will look to price him away. Ziyech already has 9 goals and 18 assists this season and is sure to add more to Frank Lampard's Chelsea side. It surely will be a great addition to Chelsea if they are able to get the player, who can be priced away at just 75million pounds.

Chelsea Set to Land a German Midfielder

Chelsea are often linked with some of the best prospects in world football, this transfer window being no exception.
The Blues are reportedly following Bayer Leverkusen’s rising star Kai Havertz ‘very closely’, that is according to German Football expert Raphael Honigstein , who was speaking on The Transfer Talk Podcast.
He suggests that any deal will not happen until the summer, and that Chelsea face major competition for the midfielder’s signature in the shape of Manchester United and Bayern Munich just to name a couple.
Honigstein said:
“The two clubs mentioned earlier, Chelsea and Man United, I have on very good authority have been tracking him very closely.
“Why wouldn’t you? This is a guy who in a few years to come I think will be the outstanding Germany player and if you can get him now, you will try your best to do it.
“But the competition will not make it easy for any of the clubs who eventually get him.”
He also states that the fee needed to sign the German international will be around 100 million euros.

Good news as Real Madrid accept £47m for star man ahead of potential move to Stamford bridge

Good news as Real Madrid accept £47m for star man ahead of potential move to Stamford bridge
Chelsea are in talks with Real Madrid over a £47m deal to bolster their midfield with the signing of Isco, according to reports in Spain.
Frank Lampard is yet to make any signings as Blues boss following a transfer ban in the summer, but the West London club are free to do so in January after the ban was halved in November.
Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, although Lampard has said he is “ surprised” at the speculation and Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas
has issued another firm denial of the prospect of the Frenchman being sold.
Another player Chelsea have been credited with interest in is Isco, who has made 16 appearances in all competitions and only 11 in La Liga as he has struggled to nail down a spot in Zinedine Zidane’s side.
According to Spanish news outlet El Desmarque, Chelsea are prepared to go all in for Isco and talks between the club and the player’s representatives are already underway.
Lampard is said to eye Isco as a key cog in his masterplan for making the Blues’ midfield the best in the Premier League.
It is claimed that Isco will be deployed as the creator in the midfield and will rarely be asked to do much defending, with N’Golo Kante set to play behind him in a deeper role.
Elsewhere, El Desmarque also says that Mason Mount’s role in proceedings would not be affected by the transfer. Mount has scored three times and assisted five other goals in 22 Premier League appearances this term.

(Photos) Chelsea complete first signing under Frank Lampard, striker poses with number 9 shirt

Chelsea have reportedly completed their first signing under manager Frank Lampard with a deal for wonderkid Bryan Fiabema.

The 16-year-old’s move to Stamford Bridge seems to have been confirmed in a report from Norwegian outlet VG, which shows photos of the youngster with manager Frank Lampard and holding up a Chelsea shirt with his name and the number 9 on the back.

Fiabema is a highly rated talent and should end up being a useful signing for the Blues as they move towards a policy of promoting more youth players.

Lampard has done well to use exciting talent from his academy this season, and Fiabema could be one to call upon in a couple of years’ time if he continues his fine development.

VG add that Fiabema was at the 3-0 win over Burnley, as they also post a photo of him alongside Callum Hudson-Odoi in the Stamford Bridge dressing room.

CFC boss Lampard will be pleased to finally be able to sign players after having to deal with a transfer ban when he first took over in the summer.
